Developing geopolymer concrete pipes from bauxite residue directly supports these goals, offering a pathway to resilient, low-carbon infrastructure systems that contribute to climate change mitigation and sustainable urban development. The project addresses two critical sustainability challenges: reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with construction materials, specifically cement production, which accounts for nearly 8% of global CO\u2082 emissions, and valorizing industrial waste from the aluminium industry, which generates millions of tonnes of bauxite residue annually, much of which is landfilled. The project focuses on the development of geopolymer concrete using bauxite residue, targeting sustainable solutions for urban infrastructure.
