Le LIMA est un laboratoire de recherche qui concentre ses efforts sur la recherche et la simulation du givre qui perturbe les transports routiers, maritimes, et aériens, les réseaux électriques et de télécommunication ainsi que les éoliennes. Il dispose également d’une infrastructure permettant de faire l’évaluation du caractère glaciophobe de différents matériaux pour les entreprises manufacturières ainsi que les utilisateurs de revêtements.

Le caractère international du LIMA lui vient de sa participation aux comités internationaux régissant l’utilisation des fluides utilisés en aéronautique et de sa clientèle diversifiée provenant d’Amérique du Nord, d’Europe et d’Asie. Le LIMA est le seul laboratoire au monde qui est habileté à homologuer la performance des produits dégivrants et antigivre utilisés sur les avions en attente de décollage.

Anti-icing Materials International Laboratory

AMIL is a research laboratory focused on the research and simulation of freezing and frozen precipitation which is a problem for road, maritime, and air transportation, electric and telecommunication networks as well as wind turbines. It also has an infrastructure capable of evaluating the icephobic character of various materials for coating manufacturers and users.

The international character of the laboratory comes from its involvement in international committees governing the use of fluids used in aeronautics and to its various customers coming from North America, Europe and Asia. AMIL is the only laboratory in the world accredited to approve the performance of de-icing and anti-icing fluids used on aircrafts awaiting take-off.
