Assessing Salinity and Temperature Impacts on Mineral Solubility: A Case Study of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Region
Direction : Dr. Julien Walter
Rôle : Maîtrise
Informations de la recherche : This research investigates the impact of salinity on mineral dissolution and groundwater quality in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region through controlled laboratory experiments. Using the Salamander Basic Fixed Bed Reactor, the study examines how increasing salinity influences water-rock interactions and the solubility of key elements such as lithium. Water samples are analyzed using mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) to quantify elemental release. The findings aim to improve understanding of the geochemical processes controlling groundwater composition in saline conditions.
